I was born in Washington but grew up in Alaska! I grew up playing sports & loving the outdoors. The outdoors in Texas though are a little bit different, but I still love it. My family had several dogs growing up & we named them all Smokey (at different times).
I went to school in Utah at BYU for undergrad & Roseman University for dental school. Believe it or not, I really started a love of skiing in Utah & not Alaska. I joined the 3rd graduating class at Roseman so we had a brand new facility & great technology. I continued my education by completing a 1 year residency, Advanced Education in General Dentistry, here in Waco at the Family Health Clinic. My family decided to stay in Texas.
I met my wife Caitlin, at church, while in Dental school. We have 2 beautiful, energetic girls: Nellie (3 years) & Jane (1.5 years). They like going for walks, & bike rides. And we love living in Speegleville. I hope to get them interested in golfing & fishing so that I have an excuse to do more of that myself.
I participate in several dental organizations: American Dental Association, Texas Dental Association & Academy of General Dentistry (AGD). I like the AGD because of their emphasis in continuing education. I hope to help patients through all aspects of dentistry such as preventing major problems with crowns & fillings or relieving pain & difficulty chewing with root canal treatment or implants. With increased risk for systemic diseases, adults & children who have trouble staying awake or snoring may have sleep apnea which can be screened for.
I grew up in a small town in southeastern Idaho. I grew up playing sports and enjoying the outdoors. I attended Brigham Young University in Utah where I earned my bachelors of science in Biology. I went on to attend dental school at the University of Oklahoma and earn my Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree. What I loved about the Univ. of Oklahoma is the focus of the school was to train dentists to go to rural areas and provide care. I received training that I would not have had at any other school. I love rural dentistry and love the variety of dental situations that I am able to treat.
My family decided that we wanted to build a life in Texas and
I acquired Lake Whitney Dental in 2013. I enjoy serving the
people of Hill County, and I am excited to now be part of Bosque
county and Dynamic Family Dentistry. I focus on all aspects of
dental treatment, however I have a primary focus on dental
and orthodontics. I have spent thousands of hours in continuing education learning advanced treatment protocols and new and more conservative ways to treat common dental problems. I love technology, and have been the only dentist in Hill county to offer 3/D dental imaging technology and same day dental crowns/veneers, and bridges.
I met my beautiful wife in college and we have 3 children, ages 9,6,2. I love spending time with them. Most summer weekends you can find us on Lake Whitney boating. We enjoy sports and enjoy watching my 9 year old in football and basketball.
Monica began her dental career 17 years ago as a registered dental assistant and in 2010 became a dental hygienist. She had a passion for oral health early on and continues to spend a lot of time with patients to educate and encourage them to maintain good periodontal health. Her favorite part of dentistry is providing excellent oral care while also getting to know her patients and building long term relationships. Monica was born and raised in Central Texas, where she currently resides with her husband, Jack, a United States Army Veteran. Together they raise their two children and are very active in sports and school activities.
